👋🏽 Another spontaneous write up, I am beginning to love this, Jesus gave me the grace to be consistent, isn’t that amazing?!

I decided to write this because I watched a video recently and the you-tuber was talking about the craze of nonchalance and loosing yourself in the process of looking cool.
Here’s my own two cents, cheeky :) Enjoyyyy!!!
Now, I could be wrong but I feel like the world creates a version of you and then one day, you look back at that version and ask yourself, “Wait… who is this person?” And honestly, sometimes it feels like you have to fight to be the person. Quite literally!
I had a very interesting experience last month. I spoke to someone who is very dear to my heart, and I spoke to them the way I would speak to myself or to my siblings. No filter. No performance. Just what the Lord put in my heart. And they were really blessed by it. That moment made me realise how much of my identity flows from knowing Jesus and what He thinks about me.
Every day, I try to represent His version of me to the world because Jesus revealed that version of me to me, so I could reveal it to others. I want people to find themselves in Jesus the way I did.
We live in a world where everyone is constantly trying to mirror or mask their true selves. But the truth is: God gave you your personality for a reason. Jesus Christ shaped you intentionally. He placed you in your family, surrounded you with certain people, and gave you certain experiences to form you.
So, I ask you this:
How are the people I’m surrounded by shaping me? Am I positively reflecting who Jesus is?
If not, maybe Jesus is inviting you to pause, unlearn, and reverse the story. Or maybe you’re starting to lose yourself and you barely recognise who you are anymore. That’s a serious question. One worth answering honestly.
This isn’t a story trying to define who you are, no! This is me, documenting who Nkiru is right now, who she’s becoming.
I’ve gone through so many phases of life as Nkiru. And you’d think, “Girl, you’re only two decades and some years old what could you have possibly been through?” But I really have been through a lot. And each of those experiences tried to reshape me, tried to change me at the very core.
It wasn’t until I returned to the Lord and said, “Who is Nkiru, Lord? Who is your daughter?” that things started to change. I always knew I was a child of God, but I didn’t always know what that meant. I had been mirroring those around me, moulding myself to fit in, trying to be accepted until I forgot what it meant to just be.
That’s what the world does. It twists you slowly until you don’t even recognise the girl in the mirror anymore.
But then I sat with the Lord. It was a season of real pruning.
“Every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.” — John 15:2
