Hey everyone, I was just reading all my write-ups and I realized I hadn’t written all year. Okay, let me correct myself, I hadn’t written publicly all year.
The purpose of these write-ups isn’t to garner the views, a lot of readers or popularity, it is to share my dealings with God and whomever it resonates with picks a lesson out of it.
My relationship with God has been amazing these past two months and I’m so grateful for his presence, grateful for how I have grown and I absolutely love this Nkiru. She is graceful, loving, thoughtful and above all loves Jesus so much.
Wow, that introduction was too long, a lot of shaleying but I just wanted to brief you guys a little bit. Enough digressing, Stillness and why I decided to write about it.
I’m someone, so extremely used to speed in all ramifications of my life. I’m used to sharp sharp things, busyness even to the point where I don’t revel in the present and I’m awaiting what’s next.
I’m learning now that stillness prunes you. You can’t grow in the busy, rowdy, occupied you. God needs a space to capture your heart and teach you secrets and that all happens amid stillness.
I’ve been experiencing stillness. At first, I was worried, I even asked God questions and he told me something so surprising:
“I will bring the one–third through the fire, Will refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them. I will say, ‘This is My people’; And each one will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’ ”” Zechariah 13:9 NKJV
I’m sure you’re wondering what the refiner’s fire has to do with stillness.
Let me first define what I mean by stillness in this context: Stillness is when you’re not in any exact motion, you’re just in a very comfortable, not-so-challenging season. It’s very quiet, nothing exciting is happening, just ultra STILLNESS.
Now that that’s out of the way, this could easily be likened to fire for me because I’m used to speed like I mentioned earlier, but God brought me to this season to prune, to bring another revelation of himself to, to make me grow, to teach me his statutes, change my desires and nurture me. I would definitely not have been able to maximize this season if I was in my “busy” season.
In this season, I had to leave social media, at first I didn’t understand this burning urge to stay with the Lord but I followed said urge and God revealed himself to me in more dimensions.
Yes, there are more dimensions in the revelation of who Jesus is. That’s why we pray the Pauline prayer:
“that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,” Ephesians 1:17 NKJV
Jehovah gave me his name. I know he’s with me. I love God so much, man! He cares about the nitty gritty stuff and I think that’s what makes him the Father of fathers.
In this season, like the refiner’s fire, God taught me how to be like Christ, He taught me that I’m the righteousness of God in Christ, and He taught me so many things. He’s still teaching me. I just want to thank him for this season, although I didn’t understand earlier I now do.
This is a cheer-on message, your season of stillness does not mean you’re stuck, stagnant or blocked, God could just be pruning you for what is to come. Stay in your classes, learn, and trust God bro.
